More Christmas Eve!

Molly, Maggie and Jack find a new perspective for tree gazing!

Maggie lost her tooth at Grandma & Grandpa's house. David insisted that it was just not possible to have a visit from the Tooth Fairy and Santa...that's just way too much magic for one night!!!

Christmas Eve at Grandma & Grandpa's

Every year we go to David's parents' for Christmas Eve. We have a HUGE seafood feast and everyone stuffs themselves silly! Afterwards, all the children re-enact the Christmas story with the youngest playing Baby Jesus. However, all the babies were toddlers so Baby Jesus was a doll this year! Not to worry though...THREE of our nieces are expecting, so I don't believe we'll lack for a participant next year! We might have to perform it three times!!

After the performance, we exchange gifts! Names were drawn at Thanksgiving with the children. The adults however opted out of exchanging gifts for a new tradition. Our niece, Meghan, who works with an inner city school, found a family that was struggling. So all the adults contributed to providing Christmas for this family. There were three trunkloads of food, clothing, toys, baby supplies, etc!! A small delegation delivered and shared the experience! For all of us, it was a REAL Christmas story!

As you can see from the pictures, the kids still exchanged gifts and that is always crazy!!

The Mystery of the Manger

All three performed in the children's Christmas musical. Not only that, they all three had solos! They are such gifted singers!

A Beautiful Angel!

Maggie and I both performed in the "Silent Night" ballet this year. The ballet tells the story of Jesus from His birth to resurrection. Maggie and her classmates were angels (obviously) and danced to a special rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". I'm trying to get the video uploaded...it's such a cool way to worship!

Molly Sings with Adult Choir!

Molly was chosen to sing in a select children's ensemble to perform with the adults during the Christmas Cantata. They did such a beautiful job singing "Away in a Manger" (while the adults sang a completely different song, no less!)that I heard from several people they brought tears to many eyes!!!
She definitely does NOT get that voice from me!

A Night in Bethlehem

Our church celebrated a night in Bethlehem for the first time and it was a HUGE hit!! I think the adults had as much fun as the children and everyone wanted it to last longer!

Maggie's Dances for Jesus!

Maggie has been watching Molly dance with the Sacred Dancers for three years. This year she is finally old enough to join them...isn't she beautiful?

Storybook Characters and Halloween

County Schools Art Show

Both Maggie and Jack had art work chosen for the county show at the fair! Maggie's portrait was of her very best friend, Elise. We brought Elise to the fair with us and as you can see, Maggie did a wonderful job! Jack did a self portrait which I also thought was fantastic! The woman in the other picture is their art teacher, Mrs. Wheeler. Maggie also did the rainbow that the girls are pointing to.

 

 

 

 

Serves Me Right!!

Obviously, I have not been regular or even frequent with my entries. I keep telling myself that when I get home, "I'll upload those great photos we took at the beach, first day of school, Molly's birthday, Maggie's birthday...." You get the point.
Well, this past Tuesday, while sitting in the elementary school auditorium waiting for a performance to start, David, while messing around with the camera, erased my entire flash card! And I'm talking about the GIANT capacity card! We're talking close to 300 photos!!!
AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
Yep, serves me right. So, shall I swear and promise to upload and blog as soon as possible after the "special moments"? Nah, I know myself better than that...but maybe I'll do it a little sooner.

Jack's graduation

I love this! Jack and this sweet little girl, Carissa (who has been his "girlfriend" all year) sang the opening of this graduation song as a duet. Just so you know, he has adored Carissa all year. Even now her little picture (that she gave him!) sits on his shelf next to his bed! I personally think that the two of them carried the entire song even after the rest of the kids joined in! Of course, I'm not biased!
